Phil Poling
Prior to joining SMLC Phil spent 17 years in a multifaceted role working at a multi award winning group of companies. During this time, he helped the group expand and become respected trailblazers within their industry.
Phil has a passion for home education & self-managed learning as an alternative option to mainstream education. Both of Phil’s sons currently attend SMLC. Phil’s other experience includes opening and running two businesses: a record shop and music promotion company both based in Brighton. Following these business ventures Phil spent a couple of years traveling overseas. After his travels Phil worked in a wide range of roles and furthered his education including qualifying as a Hypnotherapist, studying Field geology at university & completing a Climate Change & Environmental Awareness Course.
Phil also completed 3 charity ‘bike’ rides across Europe as Support Team Leader (driving the support vehicle and not riding a bike!) Voluntary work has included working with ‘Adventure Unlimited’ based at Brighton Youth Centre. Phil’s interests include street art, graffiti, contemporary art, skiing and snowboarding, youth / subcultures, cultures, the natural world, world affairs, listening to music / HiFi, playing squash, Lego, wild swimming & Liverpool FC!
